Hay

Wrapping hay in plastic at high moisture preserves  the hay from sun and rain. Cows love it. These tubes are 200+ feet long. Each tube holds about 55 4x4 bales. The tubing machine runs on hydraulics powered by a small Honda gasoline engine. When a bale is set down on the machine, a trip lever activates a plunger which pushes the bale into the plastic tube.
The tubing machine advances automatically each time a bale is pushed into the plastic tube. The tubing machine has a hitch on the front so it can be pulled by a tractor or pickup. Unloading from the wagon directly onto the tubing machine averages about 1 minute per bale. Cost in 2006 was about $5 per bale, which covers the cost of plastic and machine rental.
