Creekstone Highlands is located 20 minutes East of Columbus, Ohio, near Alexandria. Jim and I (Colleen) grew up on farms and have been married for 60 years! On our fifth-generation family farm, we currently farm 600 acres of corn, soybeans, wheat, and hay in addition to our Highland herd. We bought our first Highland heifers from Cashman's in Delaware, Ohio, in 2000. Our first bull Ben, was a gentle giant with an extensive horn spread. If you ever visit our farm, you can see Ben's horns proudly displayed in our party barn. If we were brushing another cow, he would walk up to us, and with the tip of his horn, he would gently tap us on the arm. This was his way of saying, "Brush me," and of course, we did. We currently have 15 cows and calves, registering and selling the heifers and an occasional bull. The steers are for freezer beef. We have had three Highland bulls over the years, and we have always been able to keep the bulls with the cows, even when they are calving. We have registered most of our cattle with AHCA and attended many annual gatherings. Over the years, we have made friendships with many other Highland breeders. Becoming involved with AHCA and MWHCA is a great way to meet other Highland breeders.
